Logan Utah Maternity Photographer | Homestead Maternity Session

I have the sweetest friend who has a mini (and I mean mini) homestead in Logan, Utah. She is currently pregnant with her fourth baby and I was so excited when we decided to do a maternity session! Being a Logan Utah maternity photographer, and a photographer that focuses so much on capturing emotive and meaningful images instead of the traditional pose and smile images, I couldn’t wait to capture her maternity pictures at her home.

Setting up the session

When we were planning our session, I asked Jen if she would let me style her cute family. She’s got two rambunctious toddler boys and the cutest little six year old girl. I decided to style the family in neutral, earthy tones, as is pretty typical for my shooting and editing style as a Logan Utah maternity photographer. Her husband and boys already had what we needed, but we got the cutest little rust suspender skirt and cream top for Alice and a Free People dress dupe for Jen, both from Amazon.

After we’d nailed down outfits for their session, we waffled back and forth about locations. I wanted to do somewhere new, but couldn’t find anywhere magical enough that I wanted for their session. After talking to Jen one day, she’d told me all about her home. She was describing her property that has a canal running through it that their ducks love to swim in, they have two goats, they have a ton of chickens, a cat, lots of beautiful flowers, and a home that they bought that was built decades ago and they are remodeling. I knew then and there that we had to shoot at her home.

Session Day!

As always, I love to do most of my sessions around evening golden hour. It can make for some late nights for kids, but it truly is one of the most gorgeous times of day, and the lighting is nearly always perfect. When I got to Jen’s house, I was just giddy because of how perfect it was. Her family looked adorable. The animals were all the cutest. The flowers and lighting and water were gorgeous.

We shot all over their property. The kids loved being able to show me all around their space. We played in the hammock, played in the canal, found all the chicken and duck eggs, found the tree fort, played with the goats and cat, and ended the night eating ice cream cones (obviously the best part for them). I was able to sneak some images of Jen by herself, and with her cute husband while kids played, and you could just tell that they were so perfect for each other and so in love.

Jen and I were able to chat after the session while her husband got the kids ready for bed. I learned that she has the best midwife ever and that she is going to have a home birth! Which I love so so much! I wish more women would be open to the idea of giving birth in such a sacred and intimate space. They’re keeping baby’s gender a surprise, so we’ll get to find out soon when baby comes. Check out their images below 👇 👇👇
